Ministries of Edification

Our church is unashamedly centered around the ordinary means of grace: the preaching of God’s Word, perseverance in prayer, and participation in the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. For this reason, the core of our ministry is that which happens during our Sunday Services, both morning and evening. However, God’s people are also edified through the following ministries of the church:

  • Prayer Meeting – We gather weekly on Wednesday nights to pray for the needs of our church, our community, and the world.

  • Sunday School – On Sunday mornings, children study the Bible in various classes while the adults gather to study God’s Word, church history, and theology.

  • Youth Ministry – Youth from grades 6 through 12 gather on Sunday afternoons for a Bible study, games, and (of course) snacks.

  • Ladies’ Bible Study and Prayer – This bi-weekly gathering includes time to study a passage of scripture and then time to pray, particularly for missionaries.

  • Men’s Bible Study – Also bi-weekly, the men of the church study the Bible or a book, discussing it with the aim of encouraging one another.

Ministries of Outreach and Missions

Our church also looks to extend itself in ministry beyond our own walls. Listed below are some of the ministries and missionaries we are pleased to support.

  • Prison Ministry – The Robin Collins Ministry features men and women from our church who go to Cumberland County Prison to preach the gospel and encourage the male and female inmates behind bars through weekly Bible studies. During the week, we also offer biblical one-on-one counseling to the inmates.

  • Bethesda Mission – Bethesda Mission helps the poor and homeless in Harrisburg. Our church provides weekly chapel services and monthly worship services.

  • The Woods at Cedar Run - This is a nearby Independent/Assisted Living facility. Our church provides monthly worship services.

  • Paxton Ministries – Located in Harrisburg, Paxton Ministries provides housing and support for adults challenged with poverty, mental illness, and intellectual disabilities.

  • Capital Area Pregnancy Center –This organization offers medical services, educational classes, and support for pregnant women and mothers.

  • New Hope Ministries – This is a Christian social service agency that helps people in need and gives them tools to bring stability to their lives.

  • Grace Baptist Christian School – Located in Carlisle, Grace Baptist Christian School offers Christ-centered education in a traditional classroom setting.

  • Missionaries – Most of the missionaries that we support are associated with the Reformed Baptist Network. Some of them we support financially; all of them we support in regular prayer.
